BCP Council launched Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival in 2011 with the festival becoming an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in 2015. The festival attracts over 130,000 attendees across two days each year.

The Brief

HotShot was awarded a contract by Bournemouth Council in 2018 to oversee the marketing and creative communications for the festival. HotShot was required to deliver all digital channels including a re-brand, website overhaul, social media management, strategic planning, paid advertising and content delivery.

The Delivery

Working with a multitude of stakeholders, including local government agencies and national portfolio managers, HotShot was required to deliver strategic content that communicated the festival objectives to new audiences, funding managers and potential sponsors. HotShot produced two promotional videos showcasing artist performances and community engagement. Additionally, HotShot was required to deliver a testimonial video featuring a number of festival stakeholders to communicate the festival impact to potential funders. Finally, HotShot delivered high-resolution photo albums of the festival and the performances, capturing the magical moments across the festival periods.

The Results

Over the previous two years, Arts by the Sea Festival has experienced an increase in visitors from 120,000 in 2017 across seven days to 132,000 in 2019 across two days. HotShot continues to develop the strategic positioning of the festival and have assisted in further funding being secured for future years.
